Edgewood Park: A New Haven Treasure
Nestled between the Edgewood and Westville neighborhoods, Edgewood Park has been a cherished part of New Haven since its design in 1889. Spanning over 120 acres, the park follows the tidal West River, with high bluffs framing its flat plain. Its diverse terrain—ranging from manicured lawns and flower beds to natural forests and wetlands—creates a sense of vastness beyond its size.
Edgewood Park offers something for everyone:
• Walking trails, secluded paths, and a wide paved road for jogging, cycling, and strolling
• A playground, workout stations, and a sun dial splash pad
• Courts for tennis, pickleball, and basketball
• A regionally acclaimed skatepark and a dog park
• A large pond and a seasonal farmers ’market
The City's Youth and Recreation Department hosts programs for all ages at Coogan Pavilion, and parking is ample with two lots and plenty of street spaces.
With its blend of nature, recreation, and community, Edgewood Park remains a true gem of New Haven.
